Jarvan IV Build Guide:Top Lane Destroyer By:Plazmuh

Introduction: First let him being by explaining himself. He is a 2.1k-2.2k player on EUW who mains Jarvan top lane and he must say he is probably one of the most underplayed bruisers top lane and I'll never understand how. He have had ALOT of success with Jarvan top lane and he figured he'd finally make a guide and explain step by step how to play Jarvan and explain his matchups in great detail. Lets get started and to start off he figured he'd show his successful ranked stats with Jarvan.

Runes:Greater Mark of Desolation(X9)
          Greater  Seal of Resilience(X9)
          Greater  Glyph of Shielding(X9)
          Greater  Quintessence of Vigor(X3)Why?
This is his main page that he use whenever he is against an AD hero top lane (whether that be ranged or bruiser). The armour penetration reds and yellow armour runes explain themselves really. He personally prefer MR per level blues if he is not laning against an AP because scaling takes over flat at about level 8-9 so you are getting more moneys worth. The only debatable thing is the quints. He personally prefer HP Regen because Jarvan lacks some serious sustain in lane. Armour penetration quints are just as good, even attack damage but he use HP regen. Another great Jarvan player he have played against (By the name of Xatcymu) uses armour penetration quints and he can easily compete with his Jarvan so it is not of much importance really, It is all about personal preference.

Also he'd like to note after a discussion with someone who read this guide, he began experimenting with Life steal runes. They are actually extremely effective and if you are aggressive He think they are better than HP Regen quints, but he think to utilize them you also need to be running AD Reds.

Runes aren't that big of a deal, the difference is often very minimal so avoid asking him questions about them.

Summoner Spells:Flash and Ignite Why?
In his opinion Flash and Ignite are vital on Jarvan. He think that you can occasionally replace ignite with perhaps teleport depending on the team. If the enemy team has a global ult then it is understandable, or if by some misfortunate you end up laning against Shen. However Ignite gives Jarvan enough damage to insta-gib most top laners at level 6, and he think flash explains itself. The amount of kills he have gotten from flashing into range of someone and using my ulti to then trap them is uncountable.

Masteries:21/9/0 Why?
He run 21/9/0 simply because he think offensive masteries are a must have on most top lane bruisers and having tried 9/21/0 he just prefer that extra bit of damage. The only real variation in masteries is that he often change whether or not he get +6 armour or +6 magic resist in the defence tree depending on his lane match up. Although it's not major, every little bit helps. He have heard people even running 21/0/9 because apparantly they have mana problems with Jarvan but he can say HE NEVER have mana problems with Jarvan.

Item builds:Mercury's Tread,Trinity Force,Randuin's Omen,Quicksilver sash,Wriggle's Lantern/Last Whisper,Maw of Malmortius Why?
In his opinion, the only real core item on Jarvan is trinity force. He play Jarvan much like a burst bruiser. He use his E-Q-R-Ignite combo in an attempt to snipe their AD/AP while disrupting their team and triforce just gives him that bit of extra burst if you use your W correctly allowing you to get two triforce procs. After getting triforce you can build depending on the enemy team. He quite like randuins because if you are the initiator, the randuins active with your W is brutal. He also like quicksilver sash because if he is attempting to snipe their AD/AP carry, he don't want his combo to be interupted by say a warwick ult or an ashe arrow. You can also got atmogs after triforce too. He have tried numerous builds on Jarvan and he have had the most success with triforce.
